The Network: Digg Sold For $500,000

The Network will be a stop to hear about all the online news.  Facebook, Google, and Reddit are just some of the sites we might discuss.  Never be an internet noob again!  Stay in the know with The Network!

The once popular site "Digg" was just sold for a whopping 500,000 dollars. What a fail for them, and a win for the rest of the internet.

To let you know how outdated Digg is, I had to look up what it was. I was about 6 when Digg was at it's peak. Digg is described as a social network to share content from all over the web. Users can submit news from anywhere on the web and it's users can determine whether it is worth the magical land of Digg. They can "digg" it if they find it worthy.

If you're recognizing something fishy, you're not crazy. This is reddit with a different name.

Digg was bought by a tech firm by the name of Betaworks. The plan is to combine Digg with a startup that Betaworks launched in April of 2011 called News.me.inc. This app or whatever it turns into being is basically a news roundup that is collected from your facebook and Twitter.

There was just nothing left of Digg and it will soon become the laughing stock of the internet because the founder Kevin Rose, turned down Google's 2 hundred million dollar offer for the website in 2008. How pitiful.

And don't forget the fact that it was sold for 500,000 dollars. Instagram was sold for 1 billion dollars. Just perspective.

Don't worry the meme will be created very shortly and will explode over the internet. Digg will entertain us for just a little while longer.

Reddit will dance on the grave of Digg and laugh heartily and have a joyous celebration in the form of memes and rage comics. The war is over. Reddit rains supreme.

I bet you digg that.
